There are a variety of global issues that are affecting everyone’s well-being. Politics Is one of the most popular topics always being discussed, so why not write an article about politics and the general issues that we are all facing?

Here you will find detailed information about social issues that we teenagers, young adults, and citizens should know about and/or face. These social issues are very important to take a look at and discuss. Yes, talking about politics is a topic that gets people growled up, but It Is something that we should all be wary of. Moving on, there are a few major social issues that I will be discussing today. Those issues will be listed below.

  1. Wage Inequality
  2. Student Debt
  3. Substance Abuse
  4. Education and Public Schools

#1 Wage Inequality

We can all agree when I say “the rich keep getting richer” Is a true statement. Am I wrong? I mean according to the Economic Policy Institute, their analysis shows that from 1979-2020, the upper-class wages increased and the lower class increased by not even half of the percent of the upper class. To this day Inequality Is getting worse as the years go on. About 90% of the lower class received 60.2% of all wages, which has been the lowest share since 1937. More data reveals to us that the difference between CEO pay and typical workers’ pay demonstrates a significant sign of inequality. Between 1978-2018, a CEO’s pay jumped to a 900% increase, while a typical worker’s pay increased by 11.9%. These are facts rather than a theory or an opinion, this information has been proven to be true rather than false.

#2 Student Debt

The total student debt from federal and private loans Is about $1.75 trillion In the U.S. On average, about $29,000 of those students owe money. Almost 100% of student debts come from these loans. This Is a significant problem because If the number of student debts rises, the rise of tuition increases as well. In 2020 student debt rose by 8%. Many can’t afford to pay off their loans. Why Is this happening? Well, rising tuition costs cut into the fact that state funding for higher education.

#3 Substance Abuse

Most teens and young adults are facing an increased usage of drugs and alcohol. Why? The main reason why teenagers are using harmful substances is that It Is a faster and easier way to cope with their stress or anxiety. Teens nowadays find something to cope with rather than someone to talk to.

With fewer drug regulations on vapes and marijuana use, it’s becoming an easier access point for most teens to obtain.

#4 Education and Public Schools

There are major challenges schools are facing. Such as poverty. There are parents who can’t afford to put their child or children into school because of the jobs they have. Last fall there was a percentage of 22% of children in the U.S. lived at or below the poverty level. Students living at or below the poverty level tend to drop out. Studies show that students who do not get enough food or sleep are less likely to perform at their full academic potential. Schools know these truths first-hand, and despite efforts to provide students with basic essentials, teachers, administrators, and lawmakers know there is simply not enough to go around.
